Gastroscopy and colonoscopy with anesthesia:

Examination program:

  • Examination & consultation: answering medical history, current symptoms and explaining the endoscopy procedure.
  • Signing a commitment to agree to endoscopy
  • Pre-endoscopy preparation:

- Stomach: Fasting for at least 6-8 hours before endoscopy. Stop certain medications as directed by your doctor.

- Colon: Taking laxatives or colon cleansing solutions as directed to completely remove stool.

  • Anesthesia
  • Gastroscopy and colonoscopy

- Gastroscopy: The doctor inserts a soft gastric endoscope through the mouth into the esophagus, stomach and duodenum to observe.

- Colonoscopy: After gastroscopy, a soft colonoscope is inserted through the anus into the rectum and the entire colon for observation.

  • During the endoscopy, if abnormalities are detected (eg, polyps, ulcers, tumors), the doctor may perform a biopsy (taking a small tissue sample) for testing. Polyps can also be removed during endoscopy.
