Postpartum is the period when the mother needs to receive more attention and care from her family. Psychological and life changes have created an invisible burden for women. Sometimes, women feel forgotten by their own relatives and husband. These burdens cause many postpartum women to suffer from depression. According to statistics, the current rate of women suffering from postpartum depression is up to 15% in the first 3 months.
Healthy babies are safest when sleeping on their backs at nighttime and during naps. Side sleeping is not as safe as back sleeping and is not advised.
Babies do not have regular sleep cycles until about 4 months of age. Although newborns sleep about 16 to 17 hours per day, they may only sleep 1 or 2 hours at a time. As babies get older, they need less sleep. However, different babies have different sleep needs.
We'll be the first to admit that going belly up doesn't always seem to agree with all babies. While it seems to vary, we've found that quite a few babies are prone to startling themselves awake from peaceful slumber. That's because all babies are at the whim of their own reflexes—which, by definition, they cannot control—and are born with one particularly inconvenient reflex (the startle, or Moro, reflex).
